Russia ready to help Sri Lanka investigate deadly explosions : Senior Lawmaker

Moscow, Apr 21 (Sputnik/UNI) The head of the Russian lower house's international affairs committee has expressed his condolences to Sri Lankan nationals in the wake of multiple deadly explosions that hit the country's churches and hotels on Sunday and said that Russia was ready to help the island nation to find those responsible for the attacks.

"Terrorism has neither religion nor nationality. Today it is a global evil and the joint fight against it is required. I am sure that if a relevant request is filed, the Russian side will provide all the necessary assistance to identify the criminals and help those suffered. We extend our most sincere condolences to the families and friends of the victims of the terrorist attacks," Leonid Slutsky said on Telegram.


A series of blasts took place on Sunday in Sri Lanka, hitting several churches and hotels in the country's capital of Colombo and other cities.

According to media reports, the attacks claimed lives of 185 people, while hundreds of others were injured and hospitalized.

 

The country's government held an emergency meeting on the incident.
