Iraq govt assured security of Indians in New Delhi, June 21 (ANI): Iraqi Ambassador to India Ahmad Tahseen Ahmad Berwari on Friday met the BJP delegation to discuss about the issue of security of Indians in Iraq. Indian worker returns safely from Iraq Navsari, June 21(ANI): An Indian labourer who was working in Iraq safely returned to his home town Navsari in Gujarat. Patel said he was unable to contact his stranded friends in Iraq due to no connectivity. Militants from the Islamic State in Iraq and the Levant (ISIL), along with other Sunni rebels, are reported to have abducted dozens of foreigners including Indian nationals as they swept through towns in the Tigris valley north of Baghdad in recent days. 21-Jun-2014
Congress worker's house attacked by unid Sopore, June 21 (ANI): Unidentified gunmen barged inside the house of Congress party activist Khazir Mohammad Naikoo in Baramulla district of Kashmir and opened heavy fire upon their family members. In the firing that started around 9:05 pm Friday night, two persons identified as Nazir Ahmad Naikoo, son of Khazir Mohammad and his cousin Shabir Ahmad, suffered critical injuries, and the duo were immediately shifted to Sub-district hospital, where Nazir succumbed to injuries. Campa Cola Society's residents refuse to Mumbai, June 21 (ANI): Residents of unauthorised Campa Cola Housing Society in Mumbai refused to budge on Saturday saying they would continue their silent protest against demolition drive. Residents protested against Mumbai's civic body, Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC), who had arrived at gates of the society for eviction. Distraught residents refused to vacate their homes and were willing to go to jail to prevent the BMC from razing down their houses. Congress protests over railway fare hike New Delhi, June 21 (ANI): Congress workers in Delhi staged protest on Saturday under DPCC Chief Arvinder Singh Lovely over the hike in railway fare by 14.2 per cent and the subsequent hikes in other articles as a result of the same. DERC hints at revision of power tariff, New Delhi, June 21 (ANI): The Delhi Electricity Regulatory Commission has hinted that it will revise electricity tariff in the city, which is still grappling with unprecedented power outages. DERC said that the electricity tariff could be increased in the city due to increase in the coal prices, which in turn had increased the cost of electricity production. Sharma reviewed the security situation along the international border during a meeting with top officials, sector and battalion commanders in northeastern Salbagan headquarter of BSF Tripura frontier. Sharma said their counterparts in neighbouring Bangladesh were fully cooperating with Indian forces in checking the militant infiltration along the porous sensitive border. Controversy over Hindi wrong, unwarrante New Delhi, June 21 (ANI): Minister of State for Home Affairs, Kiren Rijiju, has said that the controversy over promotion of Hindi on social media platform was wrong and unwarranted. He said that was misquoted as it was just a routine circular to promote the language and not being imposed on the states. Rijiju addressed a news conference in New Delhi and said that the circular which is constantly being cited in media reports was issued on May 27 and was a reminder to an earlier circular issued on March 10th which said use of Hindi language should be promoted on social media.
