Twelve hardcore Maoists surrender in Odi Koraput, June 09 (ANI): Twelve rebels of a hardcore Maoist organisation, Communist Party of India (Maoist), surrendered before police in Koraput district of Odisha. The police said their case was being recommended for rehabilitation under the surrender policy of Odisha government. All the surrendered Maoists hailed from Narayanpatna area, which has been a Maoist stronghold. Police, meanwhile, have appealed all Maoists and their associates to shun violence or face stern action in the coming days. Virbhadra Singh orders probe after stude Shimla/ New Delhi/ Hyderabad, June 09 (ANI): Himachal Pradesh CM, Virbhadra Singh, on Monday ordered probe against the authorities for releasing water from a dam without issuing a warning which swept away 24 students. The engineering students of a private college, VNR Vignana Jyothi Institute of Engineering and Technology of Hyderabad went missing on Sunday when they were standing on the bank of Beas river near Thalot on Manali-Kiratpur Highway to click photographs. The water of the river suddenly increased following its release from the reservoir of 126 MW Larji hydropower project. He has refused food since April 22. The hunger strike is to protest against the abduction of a nationalist student leader, Zahid Baloch, by Pakistani security forces. Zahid, who heads the Baloch Student Organisation (Azad), was picked up from Quetta, the capital of Balochistan province, onMarch 18. Although the state govt. claims to have spend millions of rupees on the roads development but it all seems like on papers only. Taking the example of the main roads in kishtwar district one would say that people are still living in the medieval times. The condition of the road is so pathetic that it’s become impossible for the transport to ply smoothly on this vital road. The commuters have to face difficult time while travelling on this road. Although the state govt. is doing all its efforts to upgrade the health care facilities in the far flung areas but still a lot needs to be one. The public health centre in the border town of Trehgam in kupwara district was established some 12 years back and since then no up gradation has been done.
