Mamata Banerjee an efficient leader who Kolkata, May 31 (ANI): TMC leaders have said that West Bengal chief Mamta Banerjee, who is also the party supremo, has the potential of leading the country, common people as well as the downtrodden. After its sweeping win in West Bengal in the general elections, the Trinamool Congress held a general body meeting in Kolkata on Friday. TMC, which has 34 lawmakers in the Lok Sabha, said they will keep a close watch on the Modi government and see that it works for the common people and not just the corporates. TMC leader Firhad Hakim said Banerjee is an efficient leader who has the capabilities to run the country. Maoism is one of the critical issues that Modi would have to deal with among many other problems as it continues to disrupt people's lives and property. A trader from Gumla district in Jharkhand, Anil Mishra, said the new BJP government has given hope to the people. Jharkhand is one of the Maoist-prone areas where rebels carry out activities on a regular basis and create difficulties for people to earn their livelihood. India's eastern state of Bihar has also been a witness to the extremist issue for a long time. All five main accused arrested in Badaun Uttar Pradesh/New Delhi, May 31 (ANI): Police on Saturday arrested the fifth accused in the gang-rape and murder of two teen sisters in Uttar Pradesh's Badaun district that had sparked enormous outrage among people. The girls, aged 14 and 15, were cousins and they went missing from their village on May 27 evening. The following morning, villagers found the bodies of the two teenagers hanging from a mango tree in a nearby orchard. The post-mortem report confirmed that both girls were raped and died due to hanging. A row had erupted after Junior minister in Prime Minister's Office (PMO), Jitendra Singh of the BJP stirred a controversy on May 27, after assuming charge, by saying that Article 370 was more of a psychological barrier than a physical one and added that the Narendra Modi-led government was open to debate with all stakeholders, including youths and that Article 370 of the Constitution was a hindrance to Kashmir's development.
