TN professor develops robot to save chil Tamil Nadu, June 24 (ANI): A 43-year-old college professor from Tamil Nadu, M Manikandan has developed a unique robot, which can rescue children who accidentally fall into open borewells – answering prayers of parents who have had the misfortune of their children falling into narrow open pits. Manikandan said he was inspired to invent the robot after his own son fell into a borewell almost a decade ago -- but was luckily rescued. Professor Manikandan developed the nine-feet-long robot with human-like arms along with clamps resembling fingers that can clutch and pull the trapped child out of borewell. Manish Tewari criticizes NDA regime over New Delhi, June 23 (ANI): Congress leader Manish Tewari on Monday criticized the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) led National Democratic Alliance (NDA) government for playing with the lives of students aspiring for admission to Delhi University (DU) because of the Four year Under Graduate Programme (FYUP). Condemning the University Grants Commission (UGC's) decision to go back to the three year undergraduate course, Tewari demanded answers from the UGC and Delhi University for implementing the FYUP in the first place. On Sunday, the University Grants Commission (UGC) put up three separate notices for Delhi University, the colleges under it and students and parents, saying that the four-year undergraduate programme has been scrapped. Police arrest Yasin Malik in Kashmir ove Srinagar, June 23 (ANI): Police arrested Jammu and Kashmir Liberation Front (JKLF) chief, Mohammad Yasin Malik in Jammu and Kashmir on Monday following a protest against the central government. Malik, had called for a shutdown in the valley to observe June 23 as 'Quit Kashmir Day'. Malik and some of his associates were arrested by police personnel as he was leading a protest march in Srinagar, while protesters shouted slogans for emancipation of Kashmir. Protest against FYUP continue with deman New Delhi, June 23 (ANI): The members of All India Students Association (AISA) on Monday, while staging protest a protest in front of the HRD ministry over the Four Year Undergraduate Program (FYUP) in Delhi University were caught in a scuffle with the Delhi Police. The students demanded clarification regarding admissions under the programme which has lead to widespread difficulties due to the ongoing tiff between the University Grants Commission (UGC) and the University. An AISA Member Anmol demanded DU Vice-Chancellor Professor Dinesh Singh's resignation after he reportedly defended the FYUP against the UGC notices asking the varsity to roll back the course. ABVP members also protested outside DU's Faculty of Arts over the issue and demanded the VC's resignation. Vyapam Scam: MP CM hits back at rival pa Bhopal/ New Delhi, June 23 (ANI): Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan on Monday said he is preparing to file defamation suit over allegations leveled by the opposition parties against his wife and his government pertaining to the Vyapam Scam. Earlier, Congress leader K. K. Mishra, who had leveled allegations of Union Minister Uma Bharti being involved, asked Chief Minister Chouhan to order a probe in the multi-crore Vyapam Scam and also alleged the involvement of a powerful person in this case. The recruitment scam had reportedly involved manipulation in the selection process for government jobs conducted by the Madhya Pradesh Professional Examination Board (MPPEB). A Special Task Force has been constituted for an investigation into the Vyapam scam which had detained Laxmikant Sharma, a former state technical education minister, for interrogation. Heavy security deployed in Kashmir after Srinagar, June 23 (ANI): Life came to a standstill on Monday in Kashmir as curfew is imposed in some areas following a call for a strike by a separatist group to protest against the government. The curfew order followed a call by the chief of Jammu and Kashmir Liberation Front (a separatist group), Yasin Malik, to observe June 23 as 'Quit Kashmir Day' and observe a strike to register their protest against the government. All shops, business establishments, schools, colleges and government offices are closed and public transport are off the roads. Security personnel put up barbed wires to block the roads and patrolled the area. 'Humshakals' manages to earn Rs 25 crore New Delhi, June 23 (ANI): Sajid Khan`s latest offering 'Humshakals' may have received negative reviews from all quarters. But it seems that the director has nothing to worry about as the box office reports are quite pleasing. Tagged as "the comedy of ghastly errors" and "a two-and-a-half-hour show reel of plot less, witless, joyless offensiveness", the film has managed to collect over Rs 25 crores in two days. Writer Milap Zaveri, whose adult comedy Grand Masti was praised by critics last year, is also happy with the film's performance. "Humshakals is super steady on Saturday! No drop despite the unprecedented negativity against it! Brilliant! Audiences chose to go for it!" he tweeted. Indians return from conflict zone of Ira New Delhi, June 23 (ANI): Indians returned home from conflict zone of Iraq on Monday, as the fighters from the Islamic State of Iraq and the Levant (ISIL) advanced to capital Baghdad, according to authorities. Many people working in Basra city of Iraq heaved a sigh of relief when they returned home safely in New Delhi. Militants from ISIL, along with other Sunni rebels, are reported to have abducted dozens of foreigners, including Indian nationals, as they swept through towns in the Tigris valley north of Baghdad in recent days. Forty Indian nationals worked for a Baghdad-based construction company, Tariq Noor Al Huda, when they were abducted in Iraq's second largest city of Mosul after it fell to Sunni Muslim rebel. On Monday, Indian national who returned from Basra city, Dharmendra Kumar Yadav, said his company made all adequate arrangements for his safe return. Will hike import duty on sugar to 40 per New Delhi, June 23 (ANI): After a high delegation meeting called by the Food and Civil Supplies Minister Ram Vilas Paswan, he said that they will hike import duty on sugar to 40 per cent as against the present 15 per cent. The decision and other such decisions came in order to discuss ways to bail out the sugar industry that is unable to pay Rs 11,000 crore dues to sugarcane growers. He said that the ministry will extend sugar export subsidy of Rs 3,300 per tonne till September this year and will provide additional interest free loan of Rs. 4,400 crore to cash-strapped sugar mills to make payments to sugarcane farmers. 24-Jun-2014

Gun battle between Indian security force Sopore, June 23 (ANI): Indian security forces and militants engaged in fierce gun battle in Jammu and Kashmir on Monday, as forces launched search operations to trace the rebels hiding in a house. Security personnel cordoned off the area in Sopore town after reports surfaced that at least two to three rebels were hiding in the house. The operation began after a search party was fired upon by the militants. To this we add 45 ml of Vodka and about 15 ml of Cointreau. We blend the drink and then strain the drink into a chilled margarita glass. Next, we will see how to make another mango cocktail called Dirty Jamaican. We will need just four ingredients - mango, Malibu, Cointreau and pineapple juice. Sweet & spicy Mango pickle Sweet & spicy Mango pickle Ingredients Raw Mango - 1 1/2 cup Melted Jaggery - 1/2 cup Mustard seeds - 1 tsp Cumin seeds - 1 tsp Asafoetida powder - 1 tsp Ginger - 2 tsp Turmeric powder - 1/2 tsp Chilli powder - 1 tbsp Salt to taste Gingelly oil - 2 tbsp Method 1. Add Gingelly oil to the pan, once oil is heated up add Mustard seeds, wait till it crackle, and then add Cumin seeds, Turmeric powder, Chilli powder, Asafoetida powder, Ginger, Raw Mango, salt & mix well. 2. Cook it in a low flame, without adding water. Keep stirring it. 3. Once the Mango cooked, make sure the pieces are tendered. Its time to add Melted Jaggery. Let it cook for about 10 minutes, till the jaggery reduces. 4. Turn off the stove when jaggery reduced. 5. Store it refrigerate the Sweet & spicy Mango pickle. 22-Jun-2014
