BSE closes points 157.96 up on September New Delhi, Sept 26 (ANI): Trading at the Bombay Stock Exchange today closed 157.96 points up to stand at 26,626.32. At the National Stock Exchange the Nifty closed 55.75 points up to stand at 7,967.60. INDIABULLS REAL ESTATE LTD and JPPOWER were among the top gainers of Group A with an increase of 10.78% and 9.79% along with ANDHRA BANK and ALLAHABAD BANK with an increase of 7.79% and 7.37% respectively, while the top losers of Group A include SUZLON and CRISIL with a decrease of 4.98% and 4.47% along with PIRAMAL ENTERPRISES LTD. and PETRONET with a decrease of 3.71% and 3.62% at the close of the markets. The Auto sector is up 151.07 points at 17,835.70 while the banking sector is up 334.79 points at 17,859.88 and the reality sector is up 36.13 points at 1,628.49. Tamil Nadu CM Jayalalithaa held guilty i Bangalore, Sep 27 (ANI): A special court in Bangalore on Saturday convicted Tamil Nadu Chief Minister Jayalalithaa in the 18-year-old disproportionate assets case. A special court in Bangalore dealt a big blow to the AIADMK leader, who has become the first chief minister to be convicted in a wealth case. The quantum of sentence is expected to come soon. Jayalalithaa will now lose MLA's post and will have to step down as Tamil Nadu Chief Minister. She has been charged with accumulating Rs 66 crore wealth through dishonest means during her first tenure as chief minister from 1991 to 1996. Earlier, as the charges were being read against all the accused, unprecedented security was put up around the DMK ministers' residence in Chennai and also outside the Bangalore court. 27-Sep-2014
Construction work for Lucknow Metro begi Lucknow, Sep 27 (ANI): The UP government on Saturday officially commenced the Lucknow Metro project. Chief Minister Akhilesh Yadav while speaking at the Bhoomi Pujan said that efforts will be made to complete the project before the next state assembly election which will be held in 2016. He added that there is no other state in which the metro project is being carried out simultaneously at three different places. He also said that on completion of Lucknow Metro Rail Project (LMRP) employment will be created and the city will become a better place. 27-Sep-2014
Police baton charge AIADMK workers raisi Bangalore/ Chennai, Sep 27 (ANI): Workers of Tamil Nadu's ruling All India Anna Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (AIADMK) party were baton charged and later detained by Bangalore Police on Saturday for raising slogans in support of Chief Minister J Jayalalithaa. Jayalalithaa is currently in the city to hear the verdict in an almost two-decades-old disproportionate assets case against her. The protest started from Tamil Nadu's Hosur City, where the police checked a bus for AIADMK supporters on their way to Bangalore. The supporters had also gathered near the Tamil Nadu-Karnataka border. The AIADMK workers also raised slogans in support of Jayalalithaa outside her residence in Chennai. The AIADMK chief is accused of obtaining assets worth almost Rs. 66 crores through dishonest means during her first tenure as chief minister from 1991 to 1996. 27-Sep-2014
Devotees perform 'ancient Garba' to plea Surat, Sept 27 (ANI): Hundreds of Hindu devotees, especially women, performed the traditional dance (Garba) in honour of Mother Goddess Durga during the festival of nine nights, Navratri, in Surat city of Gujarat. Women decked in traditional attire have played the ancient Garba in Surat city for the past hundreds of years holding lit earthen pots on the head. This is considered an auspicious old tradition, with the lit earthen pot symbolising a fertile womb. Navratri is celebrated with great enthusiasm and people drench into the music of Garba for nine-long-days, representing the nine manifestations of the divine mother. 27-Sep-2014
Civil societies extend relief materials Rajouri, Sep 27 (ANI): A New Delhi based non-profit charitable trust, Thakurdwara, collected and sent the much needed relief material to Rajouri district of flood- affected Jammu. Three trucks carrying relief material worth rupees 50 lakh reached Rajouri. Relief material included shelter kits, bed sheets, towels, milk powder and tarpaulin sheets. Both the Indian and Pakistani sides of the disputed Himalayan region have seen extensive flooding this month, with Srinagar particularly hard hit. Hundreds of people have been killed and tens of thousands are homeless. District Development Commissioner, Jatinder Kumar Singh said that according to the data collected so far, 9,000 homes have been damaged in the floods, out of which 3,000 have been totally ruined and such contributions are a big help for the administration. 27-Sep-2014
Delhi HC asks OP Chautala to surrender b New Delhi, Sep 27 (ANI): In a major blow to former Haryana chief minister Om Prakash Chautala, who has been convicted in JBT recruitment scam case, the Delhi High Court has asked him to surrender on or before October 17. The Indian National Lok Dal (INLD) chief is currently out of prison on bail on health grounds. The INLD leader recently addressed a political rally in Haryana's Jind town where he slammed the Congress government for sending him to jail by implicating him in JBT scam. Chautala even vowed to take oath in jail if his party emerged winner in the assembly polls. Meanwhile, reacting over the court's direction, the BJP and Congress said that it is a legal matter and the law should take its own course. 27-Sep-2014
Uma Bharti wields broom to promote clean New Delhi, Sep 27 (ANI): Water Resource Minister Uma Bharti along with her officers on Saturday wielded the broom in the premises of Shram Shakti Bhavan outside her office to promote Prime Minister Narendra Modi's pet project 'Swacch Bharat Abhiyan'. Bharti said that she will continue to clean the premises of the office for the next seven days and seeing her clean the premises the employees would keep the place clean out of shame or out of duty sense. Politicos react as SandP upgrades India New Delhi, Sep 27 (ANI): Political leaders on Saturday react as Standard and Poor's lifted India's rating outlook to 'stable' from 'negative', acknowledging efforts by the Narendra Modi government to maintain fiscal discipline. BJP leaders Mukhtar Abbas Naqvi and Sambit Patra said that this is the result of efforts of Prime Minister Narendra Modi and his government. Patra said that this is a break through in the sense of buoyancy of all the investors. NCP leader Tariq Anwar also welcomed the development and said that this is after long that a majority government has come up and this is a reason of the same. Assam floods: Death toll mounts to 36 Assam, Sep 26 (ANI): The death toll due to floods in Assam has now gone up to 36 with the recovery of four more bodies on Thursday. The floods in Assam have affected close to 10 lakh people in 13 districts and rendered a majority of people homeless. Two people died in Krishnai and Kukurkata areas of Goalpara district, which has been the worst hit by the floods, while one person was found dead in Tinsukia district and Guwahati. Heavy rains in Assam, Meghalaya and Arunachal Pradesh earlier this week led to the flood like situation. The government has set up 162 relief camps and shelters where 1.5 lakh people have taken shelter. The state government had yesterday announced a payment of Rs 3.5 lakhs to the kin of those who died in the flood. 26-Sep-2014
Flooded Kashmir s traders battle to reco Srinagar, Sep 26 (ANI): Srinagar is battling on long road to recovery of losses due to catastrophic floods that hit the valley in over a century, while emergency workers are struggling to prevent waterborne diseases like cholera as fetid water swilled around localities of the summer capital. All the shops in the downtown area commercial hub of Lal Chowk, where the famed clock tower stands in the middle of putrid water, which used to be hustling and bustling with business activities, now bears a deserted look as the markets have been completely damaged. Depressed shopkeeper Shaukat Ahmad Khan said that every trader, hawker and shopkeeper have incurred huge losses as properties have been completely destroyed in floods. 26-Sep-2014
One dead 8 injured in bomb attack target Karachi, Sept 26 (ANI): At least one person was killed and eight others, including two women and police personnel, were injured when a bomb targeting a senior anti-terror police officer went off in Karachi late on Thursday. According to initial reports, the attack targeted senior anti-terror police officer, Senior Superintendent of Police, Farooq Awan, who was travelling in his bomb proof vehicle when it was attacked. The blast was so huge it was heard in various areas of the city. Police officials said that over 50kg of explosives were used in the blast. Awan and several others had been shifted to a private hospital in the area. Additional Inspector General of Police Ghulam Qadir Thebo told reporters that Awan had sustained minor injuries. However, an unidentified man was taken to hospital in critical condition. A hospital spokesperson later said the civilian had died in the hospital. 26-Sep-2014

PM Modi arrives in Frankfurt en route to Frankfurt, Sep 26 (ANI): Prime Minister Narendra Modi has arrived in Frankfurt, Germany. He will leave for the United States today. On his arrival in New York today, the Mayor of New York, Bill de Blasio will call on him at Hotel New York Palace where he will be staying till Sunday. Asian Games: Indian shooters add another New Delhi, Sep 26 (ANI): India bagged its second silver in the 17th Asian games after the men's shooting team clinched a silver medal in the 25m centre fire pistol on day 7 at the Ongnyeon International Shooting Range in Incheon, South Korea. The men pistol shooters - spearheaded by London Olympic Games silver medallist Vijay Kumar - clinched the second place with a total score of 1740, two behind gold medallists China. In squash, Indian women's team reached in finals beating South Korea by 2-0 as Joshana Chinappa and Dipika Pallikal won their respective matches. Mangalyaan sends first pictures of Mars New Delhi, Sep 25 (ANI): Indian Mars orbiter spacecraft 'Mangalyaan' which began its rotation around Mars after its successful insertion into the orbit on Wednesday, has now sent the first pictures of the red planet. The Mars Orbiter Mission affectionately called "MOM" created history on Wednesday by making India the first country ever to have reached Mars' orbit successfully in its very first attempt. On Wednesday, the Union Cabinet also passed a unanimous resolution lauding the efforts of scientists and engineers of the Indian Space Research organisation (ISRO) for the success of Mars Orbiter Mission 'Mangalyaan'. The Mars Orbiter Mission was India's first inter-planetary mission launched on November 5, 2013 from Sriharikota in Andhra Pradesh. 25-Sep-2014

"May Maa Jagdamba enrich our lives with strength, well-being, good health and may she keep inspiring us to serve the poorest of the poor," he added. Three weeks on from flood, people in Kas Rajouri, Sep 25 (ANI): Victims of the Kashmir floods said that they are still homeless, as many houses had collapsed during the worst natural disaster that had hit Jammu and Kashmir in a century. Hundreds of people have been killed and tens of thousands are homeless. Authorities say the cost of damage in Jammu and Kashmir may run into billions of dollars. Villagers of Rajouri district said they haven't still got any tents or alternate arrangements after their houses collapsed in the devastation. Navratri begins with religious fervour i Bhopal /New Delhi/Lucknow, Ayodhya /Jammu, Sept 25 (ANI): Devotees across India thronged the temples on the first day of Navratri when Hindus worship mother goddess Durga in all her manifestations. Navratri, derived from the ancient Sanskrit words 'nine nights', falls this year from September 25 to October 03. People stood in queues early morning on Thursday as they visited temples to seek the blessings of mother goddess Durga. Devotees celebrate the festival with religious fervour as they pray before the idol of the goddess, sing religious songs and perform aarti while observing fast. During one of the biggest Hindu festival celebrated across India in different forms and names, temples are beautifully decorated with flowers, leaves, petals, lights and the priests ornate idols of goddess Durga with new clothes and jewellery. Cabinet gives nod to clean India mission New Delhi, Sep 25 (ANI): Cabinet headed by Prime Minister Narendra Modi gave nod to clean India mission, 'Swacch Bharat'. Law and Justice Minister, Ravi Shankar Prasad, told reporters that number of plans were piloted during the Cabinet meet. The Programme consists of components for providing individual household, community and public toilets and municipal solid waste management in all 4041 statutory towns. The Cabinet also approved setting up of Clean Ganga Fund with voluntary contributions citizens, NRIs and Person of Indian Origin toward the conservation of the river Ganga. This initiative would supplement Namami Ganga Programme. The Cabinet also approved restructuring of the "Nirmal Bharat Abhiyan" (NBA) into "Swachh Bharat" Mission (rural) by a perfect synergy for clean Ganga (Ganges). 25-Sep-2014

Asian Games: India adds three bronze to New Delhi, Sep 25 (ANI): Indian added three more bronze to its medal tally on Day 6 of the 17th Asian Games at Incheon in South Korea. India rower Sawarn Singh clinched the bronze medal in men's single sculls final at the 17th Asian Games at the Chungju Tangeum Lake Rowing Center. The team of Indian rowers bagged one more bronze in the men's eight final event. India won the third bronze in the women's double trap team event at the Gyeonggido Shooting Range. BSE closes points 31.00 down on Septembe New Delhi, Sept 24 (ANI): Trading at the Bombay Stock Exchange today closed 31.00 points down to stand at 26,744.69. At the National Stock Exchange the Nifty closed 15.15 points down to stand at 8,002.40. RPOWER and PEL were among the top gainers of Group A with an increase of 5.34% and 5.19% along with COALINDIA and EMAMILTD with an increase of 5.02% and 4.84% respectively, while the top losers of Group A include GMRINFRA and OFSS with a decrease of 12.84% and 12.77% along with JINDAL STEEL & POWER LTD. and JPINFRATEC with a decrease of 9.99% and 8.71% at the close of the markets. The Auto sector is down 91.23 points at 17,857.78 while the banking sector is down 197.39 points at 18,009.23 and the reality sector is down 28.27 points at 1,645.21. PM inaugurates 110 acre Food Park in Kar Tumkur, Sep 24 (ANI): Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Wednesday inaugurated a Food Park in the Tumkur district of Karnataka. While addressing the public at the event, Modi said that for development of the farmers, there needs to be value addition. Explaining the importance of food processing, Modi said that if the companies of the aerated drinks agree to put even five percent of the natural juice in their product, then the farmers will be able to make a lot of money.
