PM Modi appreciates leading citizens for New Delhi, Oct 30 (ANI): Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Thursday lauded Bollywood mega star Amitabh Bachchan among others for participating in his pet project 'Swachh Bharat Abhiyan'. BJP leaders detained by police in West B Birbhum, Oct 30 (ANI): Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leaders led by Mukhtar Abbas Naqvi were detained on Thursday for defying prohibitory orders in Birbhum District. West Bengal Police later took all BJP leaders, including Kirti Azad in buses to ensure that no untoward incident takes place. They are expected to submit a report about the incident to the central leadership of the party. A resident, Mohammad Kabir, said they were concerned about their safety, especially children, as winters were approaching. People light over one lakh earthen lamps Gorakhpur, Oct 25 (ANI): Scores of Hindu devotees gathered at a river bank in Uttar Pradesh to light over one lakh earthen oil lamps and prayed for world peace and prosperity of citizens. The lighting of earthen lamps was done after Diwali, the Hindu festival of lights. Devotees congregated at the Surajkund temple in Gorakhpur and prayed for brotherhood among people. According to Hindu mythology, Lord Rama, was believed to have rested at this temple site with his consort Sita on their way back from Lanka after defeating Ravana. The temple was illuminated with lights as earthen lamps were placed on the steps. It is a century old custom, organized with the aim to purify the atmosphere and keep the surroundings clean. 25-Oct-2014

Seven people killed after fire broke out Barmer, Oct 23 (ANI): At least seven people were burnt alive early on Thursday after a fire broke out at a firecracker shop in Rajasthan's Barmer district. Another minor girl raped in Bangalore sc Bangalore, Oct 22 (ANI): A three-year-old girl student was allegedly raped inside a private school in Bangalore on Tuesday, police said. This is the third incident of a minor girl student being allegedly sexually assaulted on school campus in the city. According to the complaint, the girl was crying when her mother picked her from the school in Jalahalli and was not behaving normal and had symptoms of fever. A criminal case has been registered under the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act 2012 and IPC section 376 (rape) on a complaint from the father of the child, police said. "Sadou" is usually a formal event, but in Tokyo a large scale tea ceremony was held to introduce the traditional Japanese tea culture. They brought a number of "Sadou" schools together to serve it to people from overseas and those unfamiliar with the tea ceremony. Tokyo Grand Tea Ceremony was held at Hamano-Rikyu Gardens, one of the traditional and most beautiful Japanese gardens in Tokyo. An annual event held since 2008, it aims to create a lively atmosphere that everyone can experience green tea in "Sadou" manner. International visitors enjoyed a special outdoor tea ceremony with English interpreter. The visitors also enjoyed a Japanese sweet along with green tea. The event was part of the Tokyo Culture Creation Project, an organization supported by the Tokyo Metropolitan Government to promote "Tokyo as a city of global cultural creativity".
