Modi further said that a country with such percentage of young blood, has the capability to change the fate of the world. A total of 2234 students of the Velammal Matric Higher Secondary School in Chennai gathered in the school grounds to attend the reading session. Senior students took out time to read to their junior schoolmates as they sat on chairs together. The book that was chosen was 'Dora the Explorer', which revolves around the adventures of a young girl and her pet monkey. Death toll rises to 60 in blast at Pak m Pakistan, Jan 31 (ANI): At least 60 people have been killed and 60 others injured in a blast inside a Pakistani mosque in Shikarpur district of Sindh province on Friday. Anxious relatives were seen beating their heads in grief as dozens of victims were taken for treatment, many with severe wounds. The explosion ripped through a crowded Shi'ite mosque in Shikarpur, a dusty town in the southern Sindh province. Attacks against religious minority groups have been on the rise in Pakistan, where radical Sunni Islamist groups often target mosques frequented by Shi'ites, whom they see as infidels. Agni-V successfully test-fired, BJP govt New Delhi, Jan 31 (ANI): Agni-V, India's longest range ballistic missile was on Saturday successfully test-fired from a canister on the Wheeler Island off the coast of Odisha. Developed by the Defence Research and Development Organisation (DRDO), this is the missile's third launch. However, it is the first from a canister, a method that allows the missile to be fired even from roads. The missile can carry a 1.1-tonne nuclear warhead over 5,000 km. EC raids AAP candidate Naresh Balyan's r New Delhi, Jan 31 (ANI): The Election Commission officials raided the residence of Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) Candidate Naresh Balyan in Delhi and recovered thousands of liquor bottles. Over 5,000 liquor bottles were recovered from Balyan's residence and an FIR has been lodged against him for violating Model Code of Conduct. Balyan is contesting upcoming Delhi Assembly polls from Uttam Nagar and the incident tarnishes the party's image for the polls scheduled for February 7. Eight workers killed in factory blast in Vellore, Jan 31 (ANI): Nearly eight workers were killed when an effluent treatment plant burst open in Tamil Nadu on Saturday early morning. So far, the cause of the accident is not known though the rescuers reached the accident spot in Vellore district and brought out the bodies. India revises up 2013/14 GDP growth to 6 New Delhi, Jan 31 (ANI): India revised its economic growth to 6.9 percent from 4.7 percent in the fiscal year to March 2014 after the government changed the formula to measure the economy, a move that will make it easier for the government to meet fiscal deficit goals. The new measurement of Gross Domestic Product (GDP) includes under-represented and informal economic sectors as well as items such as smartphones and LED television sets. The government also revised its GDP for 2012/13 to 5.1 percent from 4.5 percent earlier. New Delhi revises the method of calculating national accounts and other macro data every five years, bringing in a newer base year and adjusting for changes in the economy. It will now use 2011/12 as the new base year, instead of 2004/05. The new methodology moves India more in line with global standards by measuring the economy at market prices, and by tracking consumer rather than wholesale inflation. 31-Jan-2015
