Dadri lynching: BSP leader visits Basera Dadri, Oct 04 (ANI): BSP leader Naseemuddin Siddiqui on Sunday visited Basera village in Dadri and met the family of the victim of a lyching case over beef eating rumour. The BSP leader met the family members and gave a compensation of Rs 11 lakh 21 thousand to the family members in cash. Thousands participate in walkathon to cr New Delhi, Oct 04 (ANI): Around 2,000 people participated in 'Safe Food Walkathon', a campaign to spread consumer awareness on food safety and packaging, in New Delhi on Sunday. People from all walks of life took part in the event, aimed to create mass awareness and capacity building for safe and hygienic food. On the occasion, Delhi Health Minister Satyendra Kumar Jain said that the government was putting in all the efforts to check food adulteration. Two Jaish-e-Mohammed militants gunned do Tral, Oct 04 (ANI): Two militants of Pakistan-based Jaish-e-Mohammad (JeM) outfit were on Sunday killed in an encounter with security forces in Pulwama district of Kashmir, police said. The gunfight started when the terrorists fired at a patrol party of the SOG in Hari village near Tral town in the afternoon. JeM is the terror outfit that had attacked Parliament on 13 December, 2001. Congress stage protest against alleged p Kolkata, Oct 04 (ANI): Members of opposition Congress party on Sunday protested against alleged booth capturing by workers of regional Trinamool Congress party during civic polls in Kolkata city. The agitated party members staged protest outside the Election Commission office in the city. They raised slogans and burnt effigy of state Election Commissioner Sushant R Upadhyay while asking for re-polls. The protesters allege that Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee-led Trinamool Congress government in West Bengal created ruckus and captured booths during the civic polls. The Congress party also accused the election watchdog of helping workers of ruling party and alleged that police did not take adequate steps to control situation. Dog owners adorn their pets in ethnic we Bengaluru, Oct 04 (ANI): At least 50 dog owners in Bengaluru city dressed up their pets in traditional Khadi attire on Sunday to popularise the use of ethnic wears on the occasion of Mahatma Gandhi's birthday anniversary. Gandhi, India's iconic freedom fighter and father of the nation, was himself a great proponent of using Khadi and garments produced by indigenous weavers using hand-operated spinning wheel. The event was held at Cubbon Park in Bengaluru on the occasion of 146th birth anniversary of Gandhi. Many of the participants said that they considered their dogs like their own children. Some of the dog owners who also took part in the unique event refused to dress up their dogs in Khadi saying it was the symbol of freedom and was associated with various freedom fighters. 04-Oct-2015
Thousands take part in marathon in Tamil Coimbatore, Oct 04 (ANI): Around 10,000 people took part in a marathon held at Coimbatore city of Tamil Nadu on Sunday to create awareness on cancer. Organised by Coimbatore Cancer Foundation in association with Coimbatore Runners, the third edition of 'Coimbatore Marathon 2015' saw participation from students, state police personnel and physically-challenged people. One of the organisers, T Balaji said that the main focus was to create awareness on cancer and a healthy lifestyle. He added that there was an increase in lifestyle-related diseases that result in cancers. Somnath Bharti sent to judicial custody New Delhi, Oct 04 (ANI): AAP leader Somnath Bharti was on Sunday sent to judicial custody by a local court till Monday. Bharti was presented before Dwarka court today where he was denied his request to the court to direct the jail authorities to take him for the Supreme Court hearing tomorrow. Brother beaten for opposing eve teasing New Delhi, Oct 04 (ANI): A brother was beaten badly for opposing eve-teasing which troubled his sister from past few weeks in Aligarh but later when brought to New Delhi succumbed to injuries. The victim'[s father claimed that the culprits are influential people and the police have not taken any stringent action against the culprits. He said that his son went to meet the culprits they started behaving in an inappropriate manner which later transformed into a tussle at close quarters followed by resorting to hockey and whips. He further added that his son suffered heavy injuries so was taken to a local hospital and then further referred to a better hospital but was further referred to New Delhi, where the doctors expressed apprehension of saving his life where he passed away. 04-Oct-2015

The post was vacant after the demise of Jagmohan Dalmiya last month and on the eve of the election it was clear of him taking charge because his name was only nominated for the post. Three discom employees die of electrocut Nellore, Oct 04 (ANI): Three employees of Andhra Pradesh Southern Power Distribution Company Ltd (APSPDCL) died of electrocution in Nellore district of Andhra Pradesh. The employees of the power distribution company were carrying out repair works on an electric line between Chinamacharam and Marripadu villages in the district, when a live wire snapped and fell on them, killing them on the spot. The victims were identified as Lineman Venu (30) and two temporary workers Ashok and Prasad (both aged 25). The relatives of the deceased blamed the negligence of the electricity department for the deaths. Meanwhile, local residents also blamed the authorities for the unfortunate incident. 04-Oct-2015

Bharti expressed faith in the judiciary and said the truth shall prevail. Bharti was brought for a medical examination as his police remand ended. Bharti earlier made allegations against the police both in the apex court as well as the trial court that the investigators did not allow him to consult his lawyer after his surrender and that he was allegedly tortured in custody. Showing signs that animal traits still is overpowering the humane insticts, Congress cadres at Vadapalli village near Kovvur in west Godavari behaved like true sadists and inhumans to welcome APCC Chief Raghuveera Reddy to their village. When Reddy entered their village, the overwhelmed Congress cadres welcomed him by firing 'live pigeon rockets'. The party workers stuffed the pigeons into paper cones and sealed tight so they wouldn't flutter loose. A man then lit the fire by a beedi he was smoking, setting the pigeons into the sky. The idea was to see the cracker burst high in the sky and the pigeons fly free. But the intense heat produced by the cracker burst killed the birds and they fell to the ground. Som, who was accused in the Muzaffarnagar riots, also used the occasion to target the Samajwadi Party (SP) Government in Uttar Pradesh. He said that like the accused in Muzaffarnagar incident, Akhilesh has also taken away the 'cow-butcher' and left others to suffer. Som also pitched for compensation to the family of the injured. Yadav today assured his support to the family members of Mohammad Akhlaq, and said that communal harmony is an integral part of nation's culture. International film festival held in Shim Shimla, Oct 04 (ANI): A one day International film festival in Shimla brought film makers and film lovers under one platform. Called the 'International Film Festival of Shimla', the festival aims at promoting upcoming filmmakers and culture. Apart from local film makers, filmmakers from UK, Brazil, Poland, Bangladesh and Iran also participated in the festival. The festival has received entries of over 150 films from across the globe said an organiser, Pushpraj Thaku. New Filmmakers said that such festivals gave them the platform to showcase their talent, skills and love for film. A filmmaker from Kashmir, Gul Riaz hailed the film festival. Caught on Camera: Man hunted and beaten Hyderabad, Oct 04 (ANI): In a shocking incident, a 40-year-old man was hunted down and beaten to death with iron rods by two persons in Hyderabad. The entire incident was caught on CCTV camera placed in the restaurant. The man ran for his life but his attempts went all in vain. The accused have been identified and are currently absconding. TV journalist killed in Chandauli Chandauli, Oct 04 (ANI): A journalist in Chandauli district of Uttar Pradesh was allegedly shot dead by some unidentified men. Hemant Yadav was killed while he was returning home from the market. Yadav was on bike when two unidentified men came and fired shots at him and ran. The locals who were taken aback by the incident rushed Yadav to the nearby hospital and informed the police. However the family members of slain journalist did not suspect foul play. Hemant Yadav a resident of Ahikaura village was a journalist in TV 24 channel. Journalists killing in India have increased in the recent past raising concerns about their safety. India rejects Nepal's contention of econ Birgunj, Oct 04 (ANI): India on Sunday rejected Nepal's contention in the United Nations that New Delhi has blocked a key border trade point with Kathmandu that had resulted in acute shortage of essential goods. Nepal's Deputy Prime Minister Prakash Man Singh held talks with UN Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon and mentioned the issue. The UN chief expressed his concern over it. Singh has led a delegation to the UN General Assembly. Indian Consulate General in Nepal Anju Ranjan said the economic blockade was imposed by local Madhesi people, who were pressing for incorporation of their demands in the newly adopted constitution. Ranjan said Nepal should have discussed their concerns with India before raising it in the UN.
