Dhoni says India ready to take on South Dharamsala, Oct 01 (ANI): As India and South Africa kick off their first T20 match in the picturesque Dharamsala town, captain Mahendra Singh Dhoni on Thursday said that the team was in good stand. The two-month long series would kick off with a T20 match on Friday at Dharamsala before the action moves to the eastern cities of Cuttack and Kolkata. After that, the teams will play five One-Day Internationals and four Tests during a series that will conclude on December 07. Dhoni said the team had ample rest and that the players were fit to face the opponents. Dhoni, who retired from Test cricket earlier this year, is making his return to the Indian squad after nearly three months. He played his last cricket match for India against Bangladesh. Dhoni is spoilt for choices in terms of batting with players like Rohit Sharma, Suresh Raina and Virat Kohli in the line-up. Dukhtaran-e-Millat’s members protest a Srinagar, Oct 01 (ANI): Activists of separatist women outfit Dukhtaran-e-Millat (Daughters of Faith) staged a protest in Srinagar city of Jammu and Kashmir against the re-arrest of their leader Asiya Andrabi on Thursday. The general secretary of the outfit, Nahida Fahmeed, said that a court had granted bail and ordered the release of Andrabi in a case related to hoisting of a Pakistani flag on August 14 and addressing a rally of the Hafiz Sayeed-led Jamaat-ud-Dawah which is a militant organisation in Pakistan via phone last month. Fahmeed said the state police was keeping Andrabi behind the bars defying court orders. Andrabi’s husband Ashiq Hussain Faktoo, founding member of militant Hizbul Mujahideen group, is in jail since 1993. The protesters also shouted slogans against the central and state governments for banning internet services for 72 hours ahead of the Muslim festival of Eid. Adequate security arrangements were made as a precautionary measure. Dukhtaran-e-Millat is an all-woman outfit that advocates jihad to establish Islamic law in Kashmir and seeks its independence. 01-Oct-2015

Police carried out baton charge on auto drivers and transporters who were protesting between Devasgate and railway station area. SC extends Somnath Bharti's police custo New Delhi, Oct 01 (ANI): The Supreme Court on Thursday held the anticipatory bail plea of AAP MLA and Delhi's former Law Minister Somnath Bharti to be infructous and extended his police custody by 3 days. The court further directed his estranged wife Lipika Mitra to appear before it if she wishes to have mediation in the case. The Supreme Court also issued notice to Mitra to be present in the court on October 5. SC also refused to issue directions to the police in the case. The Supreme Court had earlier ordered Bharti to surrender before Delhi Police, failing which, they warned that they would not hear his plea for bail on October 1. Bharti had moved the SC seeking protection from arrest in the case and a direction to restrain the Delhi Police from arresting him till his plea challenging the High Court order is decided.
