Transit treatment center for animals, bi Nagpur, Dec 31 (ANI): The forest department in Nagpur city has started a transit hospital to take care of wildlife animals and birds which get injured but are not treated on time. The centre, located in Seminary Hills area of Maharashtra state, rescues injured animals and birds and provide timely treatment to them. The centre is first of its kind in India, which will cater to animals from across Vidarbha region, which comprises of Nagpur Amravati divisions of the state. Beauty pageant for transgenders in Impha Imphal, Dec 31 (ANI): Transgenders in Imphal walked the ramp in glamorous outfits at a 'solidarity event' to protest the apex court's verdict criminalising homosexuality. Even though the Supreme Court has since recognized transgender people as a third gender and called on the government to ensure their equal rights, it does not recognize their right to have sexual relationships. Several non-government organizations in northeastern Tripura state joined hands to organise a beauty pageant where 23 transgenders sashayed down the ramp holding placards against Section 377. Many of the country's sexual minorities - especially transgender people who are more visible - live on fringes of society, are forced into sex trade, and face discrimination in employment and basic services such as health and education. 31-Dec-2015

Two people injured in explosion in Hoogh Hooghly, Dec 31 (ANI): At least two people were injured in an explosion in the market area of West Bengal's Hooghly district on Thursday. The blast took place when an employee of a hardware shop in the market moved an old can he found in front of his shop. The victims have been admitted to a primary health centre. Nine killed, 17 injured in road accident Amritsar, Dec 31 (ANI): Nine people were killed and at least 17 others were injured in a rear-end collision between a private bus and a vehicle in Amritsar city. The speeding bus hit the motorised cart, thus overturning it. Nine people including women and children died on the spot while the injured were rushed to a local hospital for treatment. Sub-inspector, Subegh Singh, said that the deceased included labourers who were on their way home after working in the fields. Singh added that a case has been registered and investigation is on in the matter. The bus driver fled the spot soon after the accident. Angry kin of the victims and local residents set the bus on fire after evacuating the passengers. Those killed in the accident are yet to be identified by the police. 31-Dec-2015
Govt. resolved to solve traffic problem Noida, Dec 31(ANI): Union Transport Minister Nitin Gadkari on Thursday spoke at the foundation stone laying ceremony of Delhi-Meerut Expressway, where he said that due to this highway, the travel time between Delhi to Meerut which is approximately 2:30-3 hours will be reduced to 40-45 minutes. He also said that the government is also working on a highway project, which will reduce the travel time between Delhi and Dehradun to about 3 hours.
