VVIP chopper scam: Defence minister dema Dehradun /New Delhi, Apr 30 (ANI): Defence Minister Manohar Parrikar demanded answers from Congress party-led former United Progressive Alliance (UPA) government in the multi-million dollar helicopter deal scam. Speaking at the stone foundation laying ceremony of Uttarakhand State War Memorial in Dehradun, he said the biggest question in this deal is who took the bribes. The former government must answer this because Italian high court equivalent has clearly said that bribes worth 1.25 billion rupees were paid to India. Meanwhile, then defence minister, A.K. Antony, challenged the government take action in the scam. New Delhi froze payments for the helicopters in February 2013 after Italian police arrested Giuseppe Orsi, Finmeccanica’s then chairman and chief executive, for allegedly paying bribes to middlemen to secure the deal. 30-Apr-2016

UP Police rescues 5 children from human- Gorakhpur, Apr 30 (ANI): The Uttar Pradesh Police rescued five children from the clutches of human traffickers. Acting on a tip-off provided by a local non-governmental organisation, the police arrested one person in connection with the case. The children – all residents of Fazilnagar village in west Champaran district - were being brought to Gorakhpur city when the police cracked down on the trafficker. The accused, Dhanesh, claimed that he was a middleman and was not aware of any trafficking racket. Thousands of children, mostly from poor rural areas, are taken to cities every year by trafficking gangs, who sell them into bonded labour or hire them out to unscrupulous employers, promising to send their parents their wages. 30-Apr-2016

Rs. 800-crore assets seized from AP tran Kakinada (AP), Apr 30 (ANI): A deputy transport commissioner in Andhra Pradesh has been arrested with his assets valued at Rs 800 crore at market value. Anti-Corruption Bureau officials continued their raids for a second day on Saturday, led by its Central Investigation Unit. Mohan was arrested and produced before the ACB Court in Vijayawada. The document value of his properties is Rs 100 crore to Rs 120 crore. ACB officials said several bank lockers are yet to be opened. Three DSPs, along with nine circle inspectors, sub-inspectors and nearly 10 personnel are conducting the raids. 30-Apr-2016

Celebratory firing injures groom in Hisa Hisar, Apr 30 (ANI): Celebratory firings continue to claim lives despite a ban. Firing by guests during a wedding ceremony injured the groom in Hisar. According to sources, the groom was hit in the head by a bullet fired by the guests as soon as the wedding party reached the venue. Mandeep Singh, police station in-charge, said they have seized the video footage of the incident. He added that they have registered the case on the behalf of the groom’s father. 157 passports seized from fake travel ag Amritsar, Apr 30 (ANI): The Amritsar police have busted a fake passport racket and arrested three persons for befooling the youth. A fake travel agency — Wings International—had never sent any person abroad. It was opened only to cheat and mint money by luring vulnerable youths in search of green pastures through advertisements in vernacular newspapers. Police Commissioner Amar Singh Chahal said they have recovered 157 passports from their possession.
