BSE closes 57.64 points down on May 31 New Delhi, May 31 (ANI): Trading at the Bombay Stock Exchange today closed 57.64 points down to stand at 26,667.96. At the National Stock Exchange the Nifty closed 18.40 points down to stand at 8,160.10. Tata Motors Ltd and Canara Bank were among the top gainers of group A with an increase of 8.95% and 6.04% along with Future Enterprises Ltd and E.I.D. Parry (India) Ltd with an increase of 5.36% and 5.19% respectively, while the top losers of group A includes GVK Power and Infrastructure Ltd and Amtek Auto Ltd with a decrease of 7.65% and 6.78% along with Sun Pharmaceutical Industries Ltd and Trent Ltd with a decrease of 6.13% and 5.85% at the close of the markets. The Auto sector is up 454.48 points at 19375.41 while the Banking sector is up 106.61 points at 20083.78 and the Realty sector is up 12.39 points at 1421.08. Girl killed after falling from moving bu Sangrur, May 31 (ANI): In an incident of reckless driving, a 17-year-old girl died and another was severely injured when they fell from a moving bus in Punjab’s Sangrur district. The incident, which was captured in the CCTV installed at the bus station, took place when two women fell from a Punjab Roadways bus going from Sangrur to Patiala. The deceased has been identified as Shobha, a resident of Nainital. Manju Devi, who was injured in the accident, claimed the driver refused to stop the bus when they asked him to, following which she and her niece Shobha fell off the bus while they tried to de-board the moving vehicle. Family of the deceased and injured has alleged that instead of taking action, the police was saving the culprits. On the other hand, the police said in the CCTV footage the girl was seen talking to somebody on her mobile phone while she was deboarding the bus and her foot slipped. 31-May-2016

NGT rejects Art of Living's bank guarant New Delhi, May 31 (ANI): The National Green Tribunal on Tuesday rejected an appeal by spiritual leader Sri Sri Ravi Shankar's Art of Living Foundation asking the amount to be paid for violating environmental norms during ‘World Culture Festival' on the floodplains of Delhi's main river Yamuna, be treated as bank guarantee. The NGT had allowed Art of Living Foundation to organise the event on the condition that they would pay Rs 50 million as penalty for damage caused to the area. Lawyer of Art of Living Foundation, Nikhil Sakhardande, said they don't agree with tribunal's observation as no harm was caused to the environment. Green groups had accused organisers of ripping up vegetation and ruining the river's fragile ecosystem by damaging its bed and disrupting water flows. They wanted authorities to cancel the event and avert further harm. 31-May-2016
