Gorkhaland supporters hold ‘Global Mar Kochi (Kerala), July 31 (ANI): Hundreds of people gathered in Kochi to take out a ‘Global March’ demanding a separate Gorkhaland. The people belonging to Gorkha community have been protesting in various parts of West Bengal for over a few months now. This time the protestors decided to gather in Kochi as their voices seemed to go unheard from Darjeeling. The protestors want their voice to reach the Centre so that their demands are fulfilled. GST leaves lock industry in trouble Aligarh (Uttar Pradesh), July 31 (ANI): Lock traders and workers in Aligarh are incurring losses as the industry has been declining after the implementation of Goods and Services Tax (GST), the country's greatest tax reform. Under the newly launched GST bill, a tax rate of 18% has been levied on padlocks and locks. The traders and workers who rely on locks and key industry for their survival are facing a lot of difficulties due to a high tax rate imposed on locks. The workers have been left with no work due to the fall in demand. However, the buyers were not ready to purchase locks at a rate of 18%, which is leading to a decline of the industry. 31-Jul-2017
Century-old Asraj building to be demolis Kochi (Kerala), July 31 (ANI): Century-old Asraj building complex at Mattanchery in Kochi will soon become a history. The building will be demolished as per the order by district administration. The building is associated to Indian history as the houses here once belonged to immigrants from Pakistan during partition. The building is in such a poor condition that it has been a threat to families living in the vicinity. The locals lodged several complaints requesting the administration to pay attention to the weakening structure. A master plan has been prepared for dealing with the demolition. 'Say no to Drugs', urge Telugu Desam Par Hyderabad, July 31 (ANI): Telugu Desam Party workers on Monday took out a 'padyatra' against the drug menace existing in the state. The workers were seen marching while carrying their party flag, placards and chanting slogans against the drug problem. CM Raje inspects flood situation in Raja Jalore (Rajasthan), July 31 (ANI): Rajasthan Chief Minister Vasundhara Raje on Monday inspected the broken bridge over Jawai river. The bridge broke due to heavy rain. Many parts of the state are battling floods due to incessant rain. Houses are being submerged under the rainwater, and the people are distressed because of the waterlogged streets. The situation does not seem to get any better in Rajasthan where rescue teams have been deployed to help civilians. It's the fourth Monday of the holy month of 'sawan'. A number of devotees also thronged the famous 'Kashi Vishwanath Temple' located in Varanasi.
