Tom Alter Is No More Veteran theatre and film personality Tom Alter died on Friday night after losing his battle against stage four skin cancer in Mumbai. The 67-year-old is survived by his wife Carol, son Jamie and daughter Afshaan. Indian actor of American descent, Alter was the son of American missionary parents. He was born in 1950 in Mussoorie. He studied at Woodstock School in Mussoorie and later at Pune's Film and Television Institute. CM Naidu inaugurates industrial cluster Vijayawada (Andhra Pradesh), Sep 30 (ANI): Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu inaugurated an industrial cluster of 75 engineering MSMEs. The programme was organised at a private convention center in Vijayawada. The MSMEs are being allotted plots at Veerapaneni Gudem village near Gannavaram on the outskirts of Vijayawada. The MSMEs held an exhibition of their products at the convention center. It is interesting to note that these MSMEs have shifted from Hyderabad to Vijayawada, post bifurcation scenario. These industries are estimated to provide employment to as many as 2,600 personnel and start production within one year. 4 dead, 3 injured in car accident Aliganj (Uttar Pradesh), Sep 30 (ANI): Atleast four people died and three others were critically injured in a car accident in Lucknow’s Aliganj area on Saturday. The incident took place when the car driver lost control and collided with a divider on Purania railway overbridge. Of the seven traveling in the car, four died in a hospital's trauma centre while three others are critically injured. Denies bringing water, driver thrashed b Baghpat (Uttar Pradesh), Sep 30 (ANI): In yet another case of inhumane behaviour of Uttar Pradesh police, a mini tempo driver was allegedly thrashed by the police in a hotel at Chandinagar Police Station area of Baghpat district after he did not gave water to the police officials. The incident took place when the victim was having his meal at a hotel and four police officials came and asked the driver to give them water. When he denied they started thrashing him. British era bullets recovered from septi Jeypore (Odisha), Sep 30 (ANI): A huge number of British era bullets were recovered from a septic tank behind the District Industry Centre (DIC) in Odisha's Jeypore town. Reportedly, some labourers, who were engaged in cleaning the septic tank, found the bullets inside a plastic container and informed the cops about it. Meanwhile, the police have reached the spot and have started primary investigation into the matter. 650 km-long Himalayan mountain biking ra Shimla, Sep 30 (ANI): The cyclists from Portugal, Spain, the United States and Australia began a 650 km-long arduous rally in Shimla. The nine-day 13th Himalayan Mountain Biking (MTB) cycle rally was flagged off. The riders will cover various districts in the hilly state with an elevation gain of 16,500 metres. Organised by the Himalayan Adventure Sports and Tourism Promotion Association (HASTPA), 92 participants from 17 different nations, including 78 men and 14 women, are taking part in the rally.
