Facebook set to launch Desktop Stories | New Delhi, Jan 21 (ANI): Social media giant Facebook is doubling down on 'Stories' by testing the ability to create them from desktop. The tech company is also considering a much more prominent placement for viewing 'Stories', from atop one's News Feedinstead of in the sidebar. "We are testing the option to create and share Stories from Facebook on desktop and are also testing moving the Stories tray from the top right corner to above News Feed, just like on mobile," TechCrunch quoted a Facebook spokesperson. By deciding to show 'Stories' above the News Feed instead of to the side, Facebook is clearly emphasising that the content deserves more attention. Moreover, the social media giant is even willing to push down its status update composer and News Feed posts to make room for this latest addition. Facebook launched 'Stories' in March 2017, pitching it as the second news feed for the social media website. |

Bofors case: SC lawyer writes to Attorne | New Delhi, Jan 30 (ANI): Supreme Court lawyer Ajay Aggarwal, a petitioner in the Bofors case, has written a letter to Attorney General KK Venugopal requesting him to direct the CBI to immediately file a reply affidavit in the case with all necessary documents. Alleging the previous UPA government, Aggarwal said the UPA government and Rajiv Gandhi's family was involved so they wanted to sweep this case under the carpet. "The case would've been heard in 2009-10 but due to conspiracy by UPA government it couldn't be," added Aggarwal. The Bofors scandal, relating to alleged payment of kickbacks in procurement of Howitzer artillery guns, rocked the then government under Rajiv Gandhi in the early 1990s. The scandal triggered a massive political storm and led to the fall of his government. |

Punjab hosts ‘Birds Festival’ with o | Gurdaspur (Punjab), Jan 30 (ANI): Punjab organised its first ever bird festival with over 25,000 indigenous and migratory birds flocking the swamps of Gurdaspur district. The festival commenced with state tourism minister, Navjot Singh Sidhu, cutting the ribbon to mark the beginning of the event. The tourism minister promised state-of-the-art facilities for foreign tourists by next winter which is the period when migratory birds come for breeding. Keshopur wetland is spread across 850 acres of land including several nearby village areas where around 30,000 migratory birds gather towards the end of winter season. However, the number of winged guests has decreased over a couple of years owing to climate change but it still remains one of the top destinations for the birds. Among the popular varieties of migratory birds visiting this wetland are Painted Stork, Black-headed Ibis, Ferruginous Pochard, and Oriental Darter among others. |

Subrahmanyam Reddy had earlier contested against Chandrababu Naidu in Kuppam assembly constituency three times and lost all the times. Reddy was chairman of Chittoor zilla parishat. He has been in YSRCP since its inception. Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu welcomed Subrahmanyam Reddy and his supporters into the party. He recollected the support he received from Kuppam in 1989 adding that the people of Kuppam supported him in spite of the fact that he never went there for campaign in any assembly elections. Speaking about Reddy, the CM said he is the only person who fought thrice against Naidu adding that he is a decent and dignified man. He added that Subrahmanyam understood TDP is the only party that develops the people. Further talking about development works, CM Naidu said, “I am sanctioning all funds needed for all-round development of Kuppam constituency. I have Laid CC roads, provided current, building drainages and only housing is pending.” He assured that by this march, water will be provided for all irrigation projects. The government is using high level technology for public welfare and development. “I brought many projects and industries for Kuppam. You believe me, I believe you,” CM Naidu said. 'Black sheep can be anywhere': Mehbooba | Jammu, Jan 30 (ANI): Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister Mehbooba Mufti on Monday commented on murder case against army men in Jammu and Kashmir assembly. Mufti said, "Black sheep can be anywhere." A political row erupted between the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) over the FIR filed against Army personnel in connection with the deaths of two civilians in Shopian district. Angry BJP legislators protested in the state Assembly demanding withdrawal of the case but chief minister Mehbooba Mufti was resolute that it would be taken to its logical conclusion. "If some Army officer has committed a mistake, an FIR has been lodged and it is the duty of the government to take it to a logical conclusion," Mufti said. |
