India to boost cruise tourism

New Delhi / Mumbai, Jun 29 (ANI): A holiday on a luxury cruise is a dream for every individual. In India, robust economic growth and rising household incomes are giving a boost to the cruise tourism industry. More people are now opting to spend their vacations undertaking a cruise. To tap the vast potential and attract more vessels, the Government of India is working on a new cruise tourism policy. India has a very small share of the world cruise tourism market. As against 23 million passengers taking a cruise globally in 2016, current estimates indicate that approximately 120,000 Indians book a cruise annually. As the government announced cruise tourism development as a project of national importance, it may attract up to 700 vessels from its present strength of 70 vessels a year. India has 7.500 kms of vast coastline. The idea is to put the country on the global cruise map, both for oceans and rivers which will help to create jobs and boost growth. New infrastructure will be developed at five major ports, including Mumbai, Goa, New Mangalore, Chennai and Cochin. It includes hospitality, retail, shopping and restaurants. Indeed! The workers showed him the bill and asked the reason for such high prices, to which manager could not answer anything. The fancy looking theater had everything over hundreds in the menu which agitated the MNS workers. They slapped and abused the manager in front of his staff. Hyderabad, Jun 29 (ANI): In a bid to protect the environment, South Central Railways has installed machines to crush and recycle plastic bottles at selected railway stations in Hyderabad. The installations have been made at Kachiguda, Secunderabad and Nizamabad stations along with Vijayawada in Andhra Pradesh. These machines are as big as a refrigerator and have the capacity to crush around 5000 bottles per day. The crushed bottles come out as fine plastic pieces, ready to be sold as scrap in the market or to be reused to make bags and T-shirts.

Pune (Maharashtra), Jun 29 (ANI): Construction of world's largest dome is underway at MAEER’s MIT College in Pune. With a diameter of 160 ft this would be the largest dome of the world surpassing St Peter’s Church dome at Vatican City. The dome will be used as a prayer hall which can accommodate about 3500 people at once. Along with the prayer hall the dome will also house a library named ‘World Peace Library’ which will have wide variety of books for students to study including few rare books. The prayer hall will also have statues of 54 eminent personalities including renowned philosopher, great scientists, freedom fighters and saints such as Mahatma Gandhi, Swami Vivekananda, Albert Einstein and Gautam Buddha. The construction work of this dome started back in 2016 and is expected to be finished in next one or two months.

New Delhi, Jun 29 (ANI): Prime Minister Narendra Modi laid the foundation stone for the National Centre for Aging at All India Institutes of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) on Friday.The ward, with around 200 beds centre, will provide Multi-Speciality healthcare to the older people.  He also dedicated 300 bedded Power Grid Vishram Sadan in AIIMS. Connection Motorable Tunnel between AIIMS, Ansari Nagar and Trauma Centre was also inaugurated by PM Modi. This tunnel will shorten the distance to reach the trauma centre and the critical patients can be transferred from the hospital to the trauma centre in just five minutes, which earlier took half an hour.

New Delhi, Jun 27 (ANI): While addressing the beneficiaries of Centre’s Pradhan Mantri Jan-Dhan Yojana (PMJDY), Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Wednesday said that under Jan-Dhan Se Jan Suraksha Yojana the subscribers have increased to 10 times more. “Through accident cover Bima facility is being provided. Under Jan Suraksha schemes, two Bima and one pension yojana has been started and it is because of this that where in 2014 there were less than 5 lakhs subscribers of Bima Yojana, today in 2018 under Jan Suraksha Yojana the numbers have increased to 10 times more,” PM Modi said. He added, “Under Jan Suraksha the schemes are provided for different purposes and are available on lesser premium.”

Amarnath Yatra: ID tags with radio frequ

Bemina (Jammu & Kashmir), Jun 27 (ANI):  As the first batch of pilgrims for the annual Amarnath Yatra left off early on Wednesday, as part of the security arrangements, a new technology has been put in place that is, radio frequency based ID tags have been installed on vehicles. PP Pauly, Commandant, 73 Battalion CRPF said, “This is radio frequency based ID tags, which are installed on the top of vehicles. These tags will be installed on all vehicles of the convoy. Its monitoring will be done through reception centre. Our computers will record the movement of the vehicles. We'll know whenever they'll pass by our 4 reception centers on 2 routes. If we don't receive signal from a vehicle we'll inform IG Control room and naka points.”  On a related note, Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) personnel formed a special motorcycle squad in line with the security arrangements.

Panipat (Haryana), Jun 27 (ANI): Two children died and four others were in critical condition after the air conditioners in Panipat’s Civil Hospital were unable to function due to lack of electricity. Dr Dinesh, Child Specialist said, “We don’t have machines to support so many children at the same time. The ACs were dripping time and again. One child had breathing problem and was unable to maintain temperature.” Sant Lal, CMO said, “The heat is at its maximum due to which there were fluctuations in voltage. There were problems in ACs in special wards where children are kept.”
