Jharkhand mine tragedy: Death toll touches 16

Ranchi, Dec 31 (IBNS): The death toll in the Jharkhand coal mine cave-in has touched 16, officials said on Saturday.

"Rescue teams of NDRF, ECL/BCCL, State Government & Experts have been continuously carrying out rescue work and unfortunately the casualties have increased from seven in the morning of 30.12.2016 to  Sixteen by 5.30 PM today the 31.12.2016," read a government statement.

Senior officials of DGMS, CIL, NCL, SECL and ECL are continuously monitoring the rescue operations, officials said.
