New Delhi, May 11 (IBNS): The Supreme Court collegium or a group of five most senior-judges will meet at 1 pm on Friday to take a call on Justice KM Joseph's elevation, which was earlier rejected by the central government, media reports said.

This is the second time the collegium will meet over the issue.

In the last meeting, which lasted for 45-50 minutes, names of judges from three other high courts were also considered.

The collegium comprises of Chief Justice Dipak Misra and Justices J Chelameswar, Ranjan Gogoi, Madan B Lokur and Kurian Joseph.

According to the reports, the government has urged the collegium to reconsider their choice of Uttarakhand Chief Justice KM Joseph.

Chief Justice of India Dipak Misra has said the government was well within its jurisdiction to do so.

However, appointment of Indu Malhotra, the second name recommended by the top judges, was cleared.
