New Delhi/UNI: Election campaign for fast approaching Delhi assembly picked up on Thursday with BJP organising a series of rallies and roadside meetings.

Union Home Minister and one of the key star campaigners for BJP Shah addressed a public meeting at Matiala in West Delhi wherein he attacked Arvind Kejriwal-led Aam Aadmi Party for not fulfilling the promises made five years back and not implementing the central schemes also.

This deprived poor of benefits they deserve, senior BJP leader said.

"Under the Ayushman Bharat Scheme of the Government of India, the poor of the country are getting free treatment up to Rs 5 lakh every year. But due to the Kejriwal government, this scheme was not available to the people of Delhi. Kejriwal fears that if the poor benefit from this scheme, they will vote for Narendra Modiji," he said.

BJP sources said Shah would also be addressing public meetings at Nangloi and Uttam Nagar.

He said just as Prime Minister Narendra Modi has done the work of regularising unauthorized colonies, similarly, wherever the slum is there, BJP is going to give a two-room concrete flat within 5 years.

He blamed Kejriwal for delaying and putting a hindrance in this work.

"Narendra Modi has done the work of giving ownership of his house to people of about 1,731 unauthorized colonies of Delhi for just Rs 5,000," Shah said.

Five years ago, the people of Delhi trusted Kejriwal with great confidence, Shah said, adding "I have come to remind Kejriwal that you have forgotten the promises you made, but those promises have not been forgotten by the people of Delhi or the BJP workers."

Questioning Kejriwal, who said 15 lakh CCTV cameras will be installed, Shah said 'you are fooling the public by installing a few CCTVs.'

The BJP has announced 67 candidates out of 70 for Feb 8 polls.
