Parthiv Patel hammers 67 no,India beat England to take 2-0 lead

Mohali, Nov 29 (IBNS): Parthiv Patel, who featured in Indian team after long time, showed positive performance with his willow as he smashed 67 runs and helped India win the third Test against England by eight wickets here on Tuesday.

Chasing 103 for win, India lost the wicket of Murali Vijay (0) early.

Patel and Cheteshwar Pujara (25) added 81 runs in the second wicket partnership to inch further towards victory.

Patel hit 11 boundaries and a six in his 54-ball knock and looked confident in his approach against British bowlers.

After Pujara was dismissed by Adil Rashid, Virat Kohli (6) and Patel helped India reach the target and take 2-0 lead in the series.

Fuelled by young Haseeb Hameed's unbeaten knock of 59 runs, England earlier managed to set India a 103-run target to win the third Test match.

England were bowled out for 236 runs.

Hameed, the English opener, was hit in his small finger in the first innings, batted lower down the order as a result.

Playing with an injury, the 19-year-old made a well compiled fifty, hitting six fours and a six.

England were left high and dry by a superb over of pace bowling by Mohammad Shami.

The Indian quick got one to bounce to knock off the cover off Chris Woakes' helmet and followed it with another bouncer to claim his wicket.

A couple of deliveries later, Adil Rashid too departed in a similar manner.

At 195 for the loss of nine wickets, Hameed added 41 runs with James Anderson to give his team a lead in excess of 100.

For India, Ashwin picked up three wickets, followed by Jadeja, Jayant and Shami, who finished with a couple of wickets each.
