MEA briefs about Sushma Swaraj's engagements in New York (Part-1)

New York, Oct 01 (ANI): MEA Spokesperson Vikas Swarup on Thursday briefed about External Affairs Minister Sushma Swaraj's meetings in New York. Foreign Minister hosted a meeting with her counterparts from Caribbean Community (Caricom) regarding various issues of similar concerns and common aspirations for accelerated economic development and eradication of poverty. Swaraj also attended the India-CELAC (Community of Latin American and Caribbean States) Quartet Ministerial meeting with the finance ministers of Ecuador, Costa Rica, Dominican Republic and Barbados. To enhance economic and strategic ties, Swaraj attended a luncheon with ministers of the South Asian Association for Regional Cooperation (SAARC) countries. The lunch hosted by Nepal in New York saw participation of foreign minister and deputy foreign ministers of the SAARC countries. Another important line of discussion was on the SAARC Disaster Management Center (SDMC) for India and Pakistan. The Foreign Minister, who arrived in the US also met her counterpart from Maldives, Dunya Maumoon.
