Top militant commander gunned down by security forces in Kashmir

Kulgam/ Srinagar, Oct 29 (ANI): Indian security forces gunned down a top militant commander in Kulgam district of Jammu and Kashmir after a prolonged encounter in the wee hours of Thursday (October 29). Acting on a tip-off, a joint team of army and police cordoned an area in Kulgam town and launched an operation to nab the extremist on Wednesday (October 28) evening. Top Lashkar-e-Taiba commander Abu Qasim was accused of masterminding a series of attacks on security forces, including an assault on the paramilitary Border Security Force (BSF) convoy in August this year in which two personnel were killed. Inspector General of Police (IGP), Syed Javid Mujtaba Gilani, said Qasim was Pakistani national, hailing from Multan. Qasim was carrying a reward of rupees two million ($30703) on his head.
