More than 12,000 metric tonnes of pulses seized in Thane

Thane, Oct 29 (ANI): Police seized more than 12,000 metric tonnes of pulses hoarded by traders in Thane city. The raid was carried out in 38 godowns across the city. Three traders have been identified and cases have been registered against them. Investigation is on. The raid comes just about a week after the Central government reviewed the imposition of stock limits and the enforcement measures taken by states to check hoarding of pulses. States have been directed to carry out surprise inspections and raids to prevent hoarding of pulses after the prices witnessed a huge hike recently. Most of the pulse processing units are based in Maharashtra, Madhya Pradesh and Rajasthan, all of which have imposed stock limits.
