Soldier killed in encounter with militants in Kashmir

Bandipora, Oct 29 (ANI): A soldier was killed in a fierce gun battle with militants in Bandipora district of Jammu and Kashmir on Thursday. The encounter began on Wednesday evening after a joint team of army and police launched a search operation in the Buthoo forests of the district following a tip-off. The militants opened fire at the security personnel, triggering the gun battle. Exchange of fire is still underway between the two sides. Three militants are holed up in the forests, said local media. Further details are awaited.
