Delhi HC holds CAG cannot conduct audit of discoms

New Delhi, Oct 30 (ANI): In a blow to the AAP government in the national capital, the Delhi HC has ruled that the Comptroller and Auditor General of India (CAG) has no power to audit the accounts of power companies. The decision came as a relief to the three major power distribution companies in Delhi- including Tata Power, Reliance Infra, and BSES Rajdhani Power Ltd and BSES Yamuna Power Ltd. In its draft audit report in August this year, CAG had reportedly said that BSES Yamuna, BSES Rajdhani and Tata Power Delhi Distribution Ltd had inflated their previously incurred losses. These companies have been pressing Delhi Electricity Regulatory Commission to allow them to recover the "regulatory assets".
