New Delhi, June 23 (ANI): The members of All India Students Association (AISA) on Monday, while staging protest a protest in front of the HRD ministry over the Four Year Undergraduate Program (FYUP) in Delhi University were caught in a scuffle with the Delhi Police. The students demanded clarification regarding admissions under the programme which has lead to widespread difficulties due to the ongoing tiff between the University Grants Commission (UGC) and the University. An AISA Member Anmol demanded DU Vice-Chancellor Professor Dinesh Singh's resignation after he reportedly defended the FYUP against the UGC notices asking the varsity to roll back the course. ABVP members also protested outside DU's Faculty of Arts over the issue and demanded the VC's resignation. Meanwhile, HRD Minister Smriti Irani called an emergency meeting of a University Grants Commission (UGC)-appointed 10-member committee on Monday afternoon in attempt to arrive at an acceptable solution to the ongoing academic crisis.
